A Letter from Gov. Huckabee

Mike Huckabee for President - Proven Leader, Authentic Conservative
When we announced last week that we needed 2,500 contributions from our online supporters before the end of September, we knew it would be a difficult goal to reach. Well we are starting to pick up steam.Folks from all over our great country have contributed to our campaign. From Hawaii and Alaska, to the coasts of Maine and Florida, folks are showing their support for our campaign. In fact, over the last 48 hours we have had 200 first time donors! Thank you!If you are still on the fence about contributing to our campaign or haven’t made a contribution in some time, let me give you four reasons why I think you should contribute today. A contribution of any $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, $500 or even $1,000 will help move us closer to our goal.

Reason 1: I support and have always supported passage of a constitutional amendment to protect the right to life. My convictions regarding the sanctity of life have always been clear and consistent, without equivocation or wavering. I believe that Roe v. Wade should be over-turned. If you agree with me, I urge you to make a contribution today. Reason 2: I believe that every child should have the opportunity for a quality education that teaches the fundamental skills needed to compete in a global economy. As I traveled the country and the world over the last decade bringing jobs to Arkansas, the business leaders I met weren’t worried about creating jobs, they were worried about finding skilled and professional workers to fill those jobs. To accomplish this, among other things, we need to test teachers as well as students, fire teachers who aren’t competent, and impose reasonable waiting periods for teachers to gain tenure. We should provide bonuses and forgive student loans for high-performing teachers to work in low-performing schools. Just as there are executives in the corporate world who specialize in turning around failing companies, we need teachers who are “turn-around specialists” for failing schools. If you agree with me, I urge you to make a contribution today. Reason 3: My number one priority is to secure America’s border. We have to know who is coming into our country, where they are going, and why they are here. We need a fence along our border with Mexico, electronic in some places, and more highly-trained border agents. Those who are caught trying to enter illegally must be detained, processed, and deported. If you agree with me, I urge you to make a contribution today. Reason 4: I believe that we are currently engaged in a world war. Radical Islamic fascists have declared war on our country and our way of life. They have sworn to annihilate each of us who believe in a free society, all in the name of a perversion of religion and an impersonal god. We go to great extremes to save lives, they go to great extremes to take them. This war is not a conventional war, and these terrorists are not a conventional enemy. I will fight the war on terror with the intensity and single-mindedness that it deserves. If you agree with me, I urge you to make a contribution today. We need your support today. Help us reach our online goal of 2,500 contributions by September 30.

I have stood on the same stage with the other Republican presidential candidates (still waiting to debate with Fred Thompson though) and on some issues we clearly agree. There are other issues however, where you can’t help wondering if their “principles” are newly minted.

I stand before you the same man I have always been. My beliefs remain unchanged despite the fact I am running for President. I ask you to support my campaign with a financial contribution today. Whatever that amount is, I encourage you to contribute what you are comfortable with. We will invest it wisely in our efforts to win the Iowa Caucuses, the New Hampshire primary and beyond.

With deep gratitude,

Mike Huckabee

P.S. After you make a contribution view ourI Like Mike” map and look for a place mark over your hometown.
