Today, Mike Huckabee launched a new website dedicated to helping people get elected who share the values of Huckabee supporters! Here is a little bit about the mission from www.huckpac.com :

Our Mission

Huck PAC is founded on the principles that make America great: Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Our Republican Party embodies these ideas and is best suited to lead America forward.

Huck PAC is committed to helping Republicans regain control of the House and Senate, regain a majority of governorships and elect John McCain as the 44th President of the United States.

Huck PAC will support Republican candidates who are passionate advocates for tax reform, a strong national defense, real border security, life, the family, less government and individual liberty.

Huck PAC will identify candidates who hold firm to these principles, promote their campaigns and financially support their efforts.

How We Get There

We are relying on you.

Thanks to your support and hard work, during our Governor Huckabee’s campaign for President these past months, we became known as the team who could do more with less. Now, our goal is to continue our work with the same reputation. HuckPAC We will have a very active online community and will focus on organizing and building a national grassroots organization that turns Republicans out to vote.

Huck PAC will be innovative and will fight every step of the way for the candidates we support. Hard work wins elections and the principles we are fighting for are far too important not to give our all.

Finally, we will be straightforward about our plans and our needs. We welcome your advice and support. Frankly we are counting on it.

What You Can Expect

This is the 1.0 version of our website. As we move closer to Election Day you can expect us to add new features, ask you to participate in new and exciting ways and involve you in our efforts every step of the way.

You can expect the candidates we are supporting to join our community from time to time and share their ideas. For example, a “Vertical Day” for candidates is in the planning stages and will be unveiled soon.

You can expect us to be an active part of our national network. A network that will focus on turning out Republicans to vote and help Republicans win elections nationwide.

Today I am saddened to write that Mike Huckabee has ended his campaign. He has worked tirelessly to fight for the issues that we care about so dearly, like Life and freedom and faith and the fair tax. I have never been so involved in a campaign and never been so inspired by a candidate and it was a pleasure to Blog for huckabee these past months! I will be praying for Mike Huckabee and his family as they determine what to do next! I pray he will run again in 2012 as I think he is the greatest candidate we have seen in a very long time! I will continue this blog so you may have updates every now and then on what Huckabee is up to until 2012 and will be ready for the next go round! This has been an amazing last 8 months since I started supporting Huckabee for President. Thank you Gov Huckabee for all you have done for the cause of Life and I pray you continue to fight for the issues that define us as a nation!

There is something this political race is doing that nobody would have expected. Among conservative and pro-family leadership the sheep are being separated from the shepherds.

There are those in “leadership” in the pro-family movement who follow the pundits, the polls or the politicians instead of leading on principle. I could list them, but, well, you already know who they are. The ones sitting on their hands or convening to the candidate of compromise.

Nancy Gibbs had it right in her recent Time Magazine article, “The Evangelicals’ New Clothes”:

So when Robertson et al, ignored the conspicuous apostasies of Rudy and, in his earlier more liberal life, Romney, in order to jump on the bandwagon, they exposed a much less lofty agenda: they just liked their seat at the table; they didn’t want to lose, and they didn’t seem to realize that by signing on with a frontrunner, they were following, not leading, demonstrating weakness, not strength.

As I told one national pro-family leader this week, “You have a voice; you have influence, and this is the moment to use it!” Actually, the moment was months ago as the same Time Magazine article pointed out:

Had the religious right leaders fallen in behind Huckabee early on, when he was a late night joke, they actually might have demonstrated their clout….

The article pointed to one of our pro-family leaders who actually led on principle, Don Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association. Here’s a few more: Mat Staver, chairman of Liberty Counsel and Dr. Jimmy Draper, former president of the Southern Baptist Convention – both co-chairs (with me) for the Faith and Family Values Coalition for Gov. Mike Huckabee – the only candidate who stands for both the Human Life Amendment and Marriage Protection Amendment. You would think a stand like that would get groups like Right to Life standing up and doing cartwheels – or at least handing out ballot cards. Had that happened in South Carolina, Fred Thompson’s votes would have gone to Huckabee along with the state and the momentum for a Florida win (just for starters).
But it’s not over as some prominent leaders in Texas proclaimed in a press release yesterday:

“(T)he conservative choice in this race is Mike Huckabee, and everybody knows it,” said Kelly Shackelford, president of the Free Market Foundation. “Conservatives across Texas are being encouraged to fold up their values and go home,” said Shackelford. “We’re saying, ‘don’t do it. Stand for what you believe. Vote for your values; vote for Mike.’”

Dave Welch, executive director of the Houston Area Pastor Council, said “The legacy of Texas is to stand and fight for what we believe – even against the odds – as long as there is a hill to fight on. Pastor Rick Scarborough, president of Vision America, added: “God help us if we refuse to vote our values, and we run from the battlefield.”

We heard the mantra, “A vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain!” Interestingly, the same people who said that are now saying, “Don’t vote for Huckabee. Vote for McCain!” Really? Support the guy who wants to force us to fund medical experimentation on human beings like Joshua and Rachel Hubbard – who were themselves once frozen embryos. Real human beings. Just older than they were when they were shoved in a freezer and vulnerable to policies like those of Sen. John McCain. Just because someone shoves children in the freezer doesn’t mean they’re no longer human beings in need of adoption. “Thou shalt not kill” doesn’t say “unless they’re really small and discarded by people who don’t want them.” If you found a kid locked in a closet, would you justify performing medical experiments on him before taking his life because he “was going to die if nobody let him out of that closet anyway?”

They are rallying to the very guy who wanted a two-month gag rule prior to an election….

Ann Gimenez, whose husband Bishop John Gimenez, a true Christian leader who just went on to his reward, said, “This is not the time to lose our moral compass. Take a stand for righteousness, and don’t deviate from it.” Good advice.

There are sheep, and there are shepherds. Sheep follow the pundits, the polls, political expediency and promised perks. Shepherds follow principle. Gov. Mike Huckabee is such a man. So are those who stand on principle with him.

This just proves that Romney doens’t really stand for the conservative principles he says he does! He’s and opportunist and will do anything he thinks will benefit him in the long run!

Happy Valentine’s Day, John McCain.

The GOP front-runner got a big political hug Thursday from former rival Mitt Romney, who in urging his own delegates to back the Arizona senator put him in striking distance of sealing the nomination for good.

Romney and McCain were engaged in a bitter fight before the former Massachusetts governor suspended his race last week during an address to conservatives in Washington — but at the announcement Thursday in Boston the two were like old friends.

“Things can get pretty rough in a political campaign, and in the thick of the fight it’s easy to lose sight of your opponents’ finer qualities. But the truth of the matter is that in the case of Senator McCain I could never quite do that,” Romney said, highlighting McCain’s dedication to national security. “Even when the contest was close and our disagreements were debated, the caliber of the man was apparent.”

Romney suspended his campaign for the GOP nomination after McCain came out of the Super Tuesday contests with a huge lead in the delegate count — but he did not offer an immediate endorsement.

Romney’s backing Thursday could help McCain lock up the nomination faster than initially expected. Romney said he’s encouraging his delegates — which number 280 — to back the Arizona senator, though they’re not bound to do so.

But rival Mike Huckabee, who has 242 delegates, is vowing to stay in the race.

“I may get beat, but I’m not going to quit. It’s just not in my nature,” he told FOX News after the endorsement.

The latest delegate tallies show McCain has 843 delegates, a few hundred short of the 1,191 needed to secure the nomination. Sources tell FOX News that Romney decided to endorse earlier Thursday in the interest of helping McCain gain the delegates needed to seal the nomination and unite the party for the general election.

Romney cited similar reasons when he suspended his campaign last week, saying he didn’t want to forestall the launch of a national campaign and hurt his party by staying in the race. Romney and McCain were in a tough race beforehand, with Romney persistently casting McCain as a Washington insider who is out of step with the GOP mainstream and McCain casting Romney as a flip-flopper.

McCain said Thursday that Romney’s support is a “vital ingredient for victory in November,” and that “We all know it was a hard campaign. Primaries are tough … and now we move forward.”

McCain already had the support of former New York mayor and GOP candidate Rudy Giuliani. But Romney’s endorsement could help McCain in his quest to convince party conservatives that he shares their ideals, since Romney was the GOP pick of several prominent conservatives.

McCain’s recent aura of inevitability has triggered the ire of conservative talk show hosts and pundits, but the Arizona senator has made headway in attracting the confidence of prominent elected conservatives, including House GOP Leader John Boehner and others in the Republican leadership.

Meanwhile, Huckabee’s campaign argues there’s no reason to drop out until somebody has 1,191 delegates.

Campaign manager Chip Saltsman told FOX News that it’s “good news” Romney’s delegates are being released.

“It means they are up for grabs,” he said of the delegates, adding that Huckabee never expected to get Romney’s endorsement.

FOX News’ Shushannah Walshe and Serafin Gomez contributed to this report.

Conservative Icon Paul Weyrich Endorses Huckabee

I believe that the voters in this Republican nomination contest—here in Virginia and across the country—deserve a real choice. And Governor Huckabee is clearly the conservative alternative. He is the best choice, and he is my choice. So I am voting for him on Tuesday, here in Virginia.

I don’t buy the idea that John McCain is a true conservative. Nor do I buy the idea that Mike Huckabee should get out of this contest. The people in the Potomac area—Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. In addition, we have many important states coming up, including my home state of Wisconsin. Folks in all those states deserve a choice a real choice.

I had been a supporter of Mitt Romney, but now I am very glad that Governor Huckabee has decided to stay in the race. I appreciate that he is staying in, just as I appreciate that Governor Huckabee and Senator McCain are not going at each other’s throats—a vigorous debate about important issues is the healthiest thing possible for the Republican Party.

Governor Huckabee has articulated some very clear differences with Senator McCain: on immigration, on McCain Feingold, and also on the McCain Lieberman global warming scheme. Mike Huckabee is much more solid on the social issues, including right to life. Yes, Senator McCain says that he has a right to life record, but he can’t be supportive of embryonic stem cell research and have a clear right to life record, because the right to lifers, including me, want to protect all life, from conception of natural death.

Governor Huckabee is also good on marriage, insisting that it be limited to one man and one woman. Unfortunately, Senator McCain refused to vote for the marriage amendment.

These are important differences.

By voting for Governor Huckabee, people will be telling Senator McCain and the Republican Party establishment that they better accommodate these conservatives and their heartfelt beliefs, or else they the GOP will not be able to win the general election this November. Like Governor Huckabee, I have great respect for Senator McCain, but he and his Republican Party backers have to make sure that they accommodate the base of the Republican Party.

If they don’t, Senator McCain may find that the conservative grassroots won’t turn out to vote this November. I know my fellow conservatives. I have been active in the conservative movement since 1960. I was an early supporter of Barry Goldwater, and I was a delegate for Ronald Reagan in 1976 and 1980. And so I remind all the Washington DC-oriented political strategists that outside-the-beltway conservatives don’t have to vote for every candidate if they don’t want to. They can stay home, or they can skip over some candidates. That is a very real possibility this year. I have had hundreds of people that have contacted me, telling me, “I can’t vote for McCain.” I hope that Senator McCain will accommodate those people, for the sake of the conservative movement, as well as the Republican Party. But to repeat: I am voting for Governor Huckabee.

The Republican Party must reach out to social conservatives, like me, and so Mike Huckabee is solid. But Mike Huckabee also appeals to working people. The Republican Party by and large ignores the concerns of these people, especially when they are hurting. Governor Huckabee is the only candidate who has consistently reached out, during this campaign, to those who are hurting. It’s great for the GOP hierarchy to say that the fundamentals of the economy are sound. But it’s even more important to concentrate on real people, and to look for sound conservative solutions. Mike Huckabee is one of them by his own background, and so naturally he listens to them. By voting for him, millions of ordinary Americans will make their voice heard, loud and clear.

I call upon all my fellow conservatives to get out and support Governor Huckabee. A big vote for him is the best way to send a message to Senator McCain and the Republican Establishment that this is an election, not a coronation.

###

Paul Weyrich is the Chairman and CEO of the Free Congress Foundation. The opinions expressed here are his own.

Mike Huckabee won the Kansas Republican caucuses Saturday, FOX News projects, demonstrating the lingering rift in the party after rival John McCain was minted the clear front-runner following Super Tuesday.

With 65 percent of precincts reporting, Huckabee had 61 percent and McCain had 24 percent. Texas Rep. Ron Paul had 11 percent.

Both McCain and Huckabee were wooing conservatives in the state Friday. Huckabee had the support of anti-abortion activists , while McCain had the backing from conservative Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback.

Huckabee pledged Saturday morning at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., that he would be staying in the race, even though Mitt Romney’s exit from the race earlier in the week made McCain the virtual heir to the GOP nomination.

But McCain is still trying to reach out to conservatives, many of whom are skeptical of him for taking moderate positions on campaign finance, taxes and immigration.

“This is a huge win for us,” Huckabee campaign manager Chip Saltsman said. “This is a state that both candidates competed in. This shows that Washington pundits don’t pick the nominee. The folks in the states and outside the Beltway pick the nominee. So not so fast, we still have a long way to go until the nominee is picked, with 20-plus states left.”

Huckabee will have a lot farther to go to catch McCain. Kansas offers 36 total delegates, but the Arizona senator began the day with 719 delegates.

Huckabee had 198, and Texas Rep. Ron Paul had 14.

Eighty delegates are stake for the GOP in Saturday’s contests in Kansas, Louisiana, Washington and Guam. McCain’s campaign has said the earliest the Arizona senator could seal the nomination with the needed 1,191 delegates is the March 4 primary.

Some Kansas Republicans thought their caucuses would provide an indication of whether conservatives grudgingly accepted McCain as the GOP candidate or whether they still hoped to nominate someone else despite the long odds.
